Killing Ground

I'm going to be honest with you. I got through about 5/10 minutes of this film and I couldn't watch it anymore. Not because of its bad but because it's not happy land rainbows and bunnies. I watched this when I had come back from camping in Switzerland and was really missing camping in Australia. This movie is fantastic to show you images of the Australian bush, it's little country towns and so on... but go into it with a blanket, you may need to hide under it and I can't promise there won't be nightmares.

Muriel's Wedding

An old classic so certainly one of the movies to watch before traveling to Australia. I think the first time I really heard and noticed the Australian accent was when I was abroad watching this movie.

Backyard Ashes

I was very surprised to learn that many people around the world have no idea what cricket is. Cricket is a national sport in Australia! Now, I can't say that I love it... but if you are going to visit, you'll have to make sure to get in a game of beach or backyard cricket.

A great fun and funny film. I might also add that Australia has since made Gay marriage legal, so we are not all that bad!

Stirctly Ballroom

Another classic, this one we is a fine example fo what Aussie kids are made to watch and study in school... certainly not painstaking. The coca-cola sign is a classic landmark in Sydney and director Baz Luhrmann is our greatest!

The Dressmaker

Now, this is a weird film. It got 7.1 on IMDb so I decided to watch it for this post. I liked it, it was strange, filmed very differently and not the "usual" movie. I do recommend it if only to see the beautiful Australian outback, some real Aussie accents and some sexy rugby players.
