Creative places to Instagram in Sydney

Now that you have taken all the landmarks and iconic places to show the world you have been to Sydney, let’s get off the beaten track and explore some of Sydney’s quirky and more creative side. There is more to Sydney than the opera house and the harbour. Sydney’s innerwest is filled with the creative types, hipsters, cool cafes, art galleries quirky street art and more.

Angel Place, Sydney CBD

This art installation is popular for Instagram lovers in Sydney. The artwork “forgotten songs” explores how Sydney’s fauna has evolved and adapted to co-exist with increased urbanisation. The artwork involves 120 suspended birdcages in the laneway above the Angel Place with the sound recordings of extinct or threatened bird species.

Newtown is the hub of the creative InnerCity and certainly somewhere you should check out. King street is the main streetthat runs down Newtown and is always busy and thriving. Checking out the back alleys and smaller streets will leave you with some cool creative finds. The surrounding suburbs are really cool and shouldn’t be missed. To get started, catch a train to Newtown, have your camera ready. Check out creative shops, quirky people, fun bars and colour everywhere! Even if you don’t get that perfect shot, you’re bound to have a good time.

May Lane St Peters

May Lane in the Inner West suburb of St Peters is a great place to snap some photos of your favourite street art wonders. This street is the start of so many other wonderful street art galleries. Take a street art tour of the Inner Western suburbs and fill your feed for months. Some other great streets are Darley street/lane, Enmore Road and Station street, Philip St and Philip land and more.

Carriageworks is a multi-arts centre in Sydney’s innercity. With new artistic works changing all the time, not to mention the fresh farmers markets and the cool building itself, you will find plenty to Instagram at Carriageworks. The building itself was built between 1880 and 1889 and was a railway workshop. It has an industrial and historical feel to it that makes some great photos!

Creative buildings to Instagram around Sydney

Sydney isn’t known for its historical architecture, but some of these modern buildings are hidden gems inside. These Instagram hotspots shouldn’t be missed for any Instagram fan!

Woollahra Libraries

Woollahra Library is a perfect little adventure for a rainy day! Indulge in this nature-filled indoor space. Take some photos and read a few good books. The symmetrical and creative library interior will make for some great photos. With so many amazing books to read, time will pass before you know it.

Central Mall

Central Mall is a creative space. A beautiful stand out that is used for accommodation and a shopping centre in the middle of the CBD. You won’t be able to miss it from the outside, the inside isn’t too bad either.

Beautiful inside and out. Elegant, classy and overwhelmingly stand out. This heritage-listed late-nineteenth century building is in the heart of the CBD. The high end shops make for some amazing window shopping Instagram stops. Don’t miss Lush… you wont be able to, your nose will take you right there. The colourful, bright and bubbly store will have some fantastic snap shots. But it isn’t just about the shops, the walls, the symmetry from above, the roof… it is a hub for great photos.

Amazing Nature Spaces to Instagram around Sydney

Now here is where Sydney shines! Sydney is a beautiful place for nature and outdoor spaces. The glorious weather really helps with this and makes for an entire day of Instagram exploring! There were way too many places for me to feature them all. I wanted to choose some that you may not have heard of but I will be updating this post with more great nature spaces to photograph.

Cremorne Point

Cremorne Point is a harbour side suburb with some amazing views of Sydney and the harbour. Cremorne Point Light, is an active lighthouse in Cremorne Point and a standout Instagram point. Getting the right lighting is easy with beautiful the beautiful twilights and sunsets that Sydney provides.

Royal National Park

We simply can’t go past the Royal National Park. A part of the Grand Pacific Drive and filled with some beautiful places to stop. From the famous Figure Eight Pools to wedding cake rock and Wattamolla. Coastal cliffs, secluded beaches and eucalyptus-rich bushland will keep your phone snapping away. Not far from Sydney city and a nice drive, you will feel like you have left Sydney and are exploring Australia.

Figure eight pools became famous because of Instagram #figureeightpools is one any Instagram lover in Sydney can’t miss getting that shot.

Uloola Falls campground make for some stunning photographs! Check out #uloolafalls

Garie Beach is another “not to miss” check out #gariebeach

I could list so many amazing places in the Royal National Park, but maybe it’s best if you check it out yourself.

Stunning parks around Sydney

Gardens, gardens galore! beautiful flowers, plants, trees, sculptures outdoors and more. Take the day away from the crazy hassle and bussle and enjoy nature at its best and most relaxing.

The Calyx – The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney

A beautiful little building out in the middle of the Royal Botanical Garden, with very a very scenic arrangement of plants around it. Surrounding grass area and gardens are great for picnic. Peaceful and turning every corner leads you onto new discoveries. The Calyx is a must visit – always has inspiring and beautifully created plant and themed displays.

This relaxing poolside cafe with a view of the harbour is a great place to relax and get some great snap shots…. or go for a swim. The food is not only delicious but totally Instagram worthy! Who can look past the Grounds of Alexandria. Not you if Instagram is your Jam! This beautiful venue is filled with quality, creativity and detail. From the Red London phone box ATM to the delicious desserts. The decor changes all the time with new and interesting themes. Iconic Tourist Hot Spots to Instagram around Sydney

Of course, we couldn’t miss these iconic touristy hot spots. These are all certainly worth seeing but don’t skip the off-the-beaten path places mentioned above if you have the time. Here are some of the best viewpoints to get these iconic places.

Sydney Aquarium

A great place to visit to get some snap shots of marine life. The lighting and the tunnels make for some great photos, not to forget the colourful coral and big sharks!

Luna Park, Sydney

Luna park is a classic, iconic Sydney theme park. Built in 1935 with a classic funfair atmosphere to it. There are also some great views from Luna Park, as well as from the ferris wheel at the top. A great place to go for some night shots too.

Bradfield Park, Sydney

Bradfield park is beautiful! A great way to have a picnic with a view. Grab some fish and chips, a bottle of wine and enjoy the views of the harbour from below. This spot is always great for a close up but also it isn’t crowded. The sun always shines here in the perfect way.
