How safe is Dublin?

Olivia

Olivia

People are good here. I have been living in Ireland for the past 24 years, I was never assaulted or harassed. There are some delinquents teenagers from north of the city , they sometimes cause trouble but really it is rare that a tourist is involved. I particularly stick to the south of the city because I feel the atmosphere is nicer.

It is safe in general but be careful with the teenagers and dont try to involve or make people stop fighting, if you see any fights around ! Also the elder people are so weird in general just stay away from them

Dublin is very safe. Especially the city center where there are lots of people. There are certain areas to avoid and don't go places where it is lonely. Take a cab or bus where possible. Reach out for more specific questions

You can go out at night and it's safe, there are more people in some streets who usually consume drugs, but they don't usually mess with you There are many fun and safe places There are better streets than others to be able to walk

Very safe in general. Some inner city areas can be a bit riskier at night but this is the same as all other major European capital cities. Public transport is very safe to use even at night so you can travel with ease around the city

I’ve never felt worried about safety in Dublin and have never witnessed dangerous seeming events, petty or serious crimes occurring, while being here in the past few months. Even at night, walking around feels alright as a woman.

For the most part, I would say Dublin is pretty safe (although slightly less so in the past year or so). During the day I would have no issues being in the city alone, but wouldn’t stray from the busy/touristy areas by myself at night!

Dublin is a pretty safe city. A lot of drunks just avoid them if they’re making a fus. I have lived here four years and been robbed once on street. Watch out for pickpockets but don’t be too crazy it’ll prob be okay! South side of city is generally safer though almost areas of the North are fine and green line luas is better than red line always.

Risky areas are remote areas, weekends, stay polite and smile, you can enjoy every moment when in groups. Dublin4 is safe with consulates and embassies mostly. Avoid renting near council house areas.

It's as safe as any major city. During the day, as long as you stay away from certain areas, there should be no problems. At night time it's the same but as a woman, I'd always be careful walking by myself anywhere and try to take public transport as much as possible. You'll be more than fine as long as you stick to the touristy places, if you've never been here before, same with any other country. Enjoy your stay! 😊

Is Dublin safe to travel?

I stayed here while hiking the Kerry Way (which was an incredible experience, during which I felt safe the ENTIRE time). I really like Dublin, and generally felt safe there. There were one or two instances when I could not avoid walking at dusk and was made to feel uncomfortable by men, but I used good judgement and was ultimately just fine. The best thing about Dublin, IMO, were the museums. I really loved seeing the bog bodies! Highly recommend that. Otherwise though, get out into the countryside ASAP - there is no substitute for it. The Irish are incredibly welcoming and hospitable and if you enjoy the outdoors, it is amazing.

Family travel experience

I visited Dublin with my family during summer last July. I feel quite safe in Dublin. But in my opinion there were many homeless people in the streets and also many garbage bags. I would like to recommend visiting Howth which is nearby Dublin by train. I also visited the EPIC museum about Irish Emigration, this museum was very interesting and also interactive.

I recommend booking tours in advance (Guinness Storehouse, Trinity College, etc) as they can get pretty full. Walking around is also a great way of visiting the city and getting an idea of what the vibe is like.

Solo travel experience

Dublin was my first solo travel experience, it was a bucket list trip, and it didn’t disappoint. Some of my favorite things I did inside of Dublin were the Guinness storehouse tour, taking a cocktail making class at Jameson, visiting the botanical gardens, and visiting St. Stephen’s green. I took two days while I was there. The first was the cliffs of moher and Galway city, which was very enjoyable. The second was a tour that included a stop at a working farm and a visit to Glendalough and a drive through the mountains, also very enjoyable.
