Safety:Very safe

Taiwan is generally considered very safe for solo female travelers. The crime rate is pretty low, particularly against tourists. Public transportation is reliable and convenient, including late at night, and it's not uncommon for women to also be out alone. The locals are typically helpful and respectful, so you can expect to feel comfortable while traveling around. However, like any global cities, it is always important to take basic precautions, such as not wandering into less populated areas late at night.

Transport:Easy

Traveling around Taiwan can be quite easy. Their public transportation system is well-organized and efficient. They have an extensive train system, buses, taxis, and bike rental stations that are relatively inexpensive. Additionally, signs and announcements are often in English, making it easier for non-Chinese speakers. However, in less touristy and rural areas, navigating can be slightly more challenging.

Budget:Affordable

Taiwan is quite budget-friendly for the solo female traveler. The public transportation system, including high-speed rail and bus services are inexpensive and efficient. Street food is not only affordable but is also a big part of Taiwanese culture, providing cheap, delicious and varied options. Hostels and budget hotels are readily available. Sightseeing attractions, particularly natural ones like hiking trails and beaches are usually free. The main expense would be long distance traveling and some higher-end, tourist-orientated activities. Remember, like any destination, your budget greatly depends on your travel style.

Solo travel experience

Taipei was incredibly safe, the people are very friendly and willing to help! There were a variety of activities, including hiking, local street markets and specialty coffee places. It was relatively affordable (especially the food) and I recommend staying at a hostel called Star Hostel Taipei East, which was clean and comfortable.

I was in Taiwan in October last year. 100% super safe, traveling is super easy, excellent public transport, people are extremely helpful and friendly. I highly recommend it. I will definitely come back.

One of the safest countries with some of the kindest people in the world. It feels safe to walk on the streets because someone will immediately approach and ask how they can help. Lovely people, interested in the world, and conversation, and ready to help however they can. It makes you want to go back there.

y’all this is a MUST go to destination for solo women! it’s super safe and met so many other solo women. i stayed at star hostel taipei main station and the vibes were IMMACULATE. Super recommend to do day trips out of taipei there’s so much u can do just a day trip out w beautiful nature. i didn’t spend that much around 400 AUD for 8 nights (not including accom). the train metro system is easy just buy a sim card and travel card at the airport !

I spent 5 weeks in Taiwan, going all the way around the whole island. Taiwan is a gem for solo travelers. Incredibly safe, the food is delicious, and the people are very friendly.

Family travel experience

Spend 8 days in Taiwan with family. We enjoyed it overall. Took a road-trip to Taroko and Sun Moon Lake and there are lots more to see. Taipei is vibrant with lots of sights and things to do too as a family with elderlies and small kids.

Solo travel experience

I studied abroad in Taiwan and fell in love with the place. I can easily say that it is my favorite place in the world. The culinary culture is amazing (night markets are a must), it is very safe there, everyone is so friendly, and the diversity of landscapes (city, rainforests, beaches, mountains, etc.) is impressive. Taipei is an incredible city - it's very easy to get lost in its alleys.

Amazing places to visit, with temples everywhere and not that famous for most of the people. It feels special to be there and not being surrounded by tourists! I'll recommande it 100%, the safety there is non-comparable to any other country (as a solo girl traveler I know what I'm talking about :))

Taiwan has various delicious food to try, Most of them are even cheap! People are friendly and hospitality. It's safe all the time, but just be careful walking on the road, there are many cars or motorbikes in city. Overall, it's worth to explore Taiwan!

I lived there for some time and there is so much to see and do!! Keelung. Jiufen. Yanmingshan. Elephant Mountain. Sun Moon Lake. Eat xiao long bao. Visit the Rahoe night market. And Shilin, if you have the courage to handle the crowds! Head south to Kenting for beaches and relaxation.
