It was a very safe and calm city. It was more cosmopolitan than I expected. Transportation was very easy, but in general it was an expensive city. I felt that everyone spoke at least three languages and was helpful

It‘s a big city, so I would say as every big city it has places that are safer than other. In the more popular ones it‘s often a lot of police around which makes it really safe also as a woman alone, but I wouldn‘t walk alone around at night.
Posted: May 18, 2024Basel is a very safe city just like the rest of Switzerland. Some neighborhoods can appear a bit lost, but in general its a fairly safe place to walk home at night. Public transportation is awsome and also available after midnight.

I spent approximately 7.5 hours in Basel. It was a day where I walked alone for hours, covering 15 km without the internet on my back. Except for Münsterplatz, I couldn't find free internet outdoors. Museums were closed because it was Monday, so I couldn't visit a few museums I wanted to see. Even if they were open, I wouldn't have had enough time, but oh well. Basel is a city worth exploring if you are passing through or nearby, but if you don't have the money and time, especially, there's no need to go. I don't think you'll find something different in this city that you can't find in Central Europe.

Been to Basel with no expectations honestly but being there it had nothing really to surprise me. There is not much to see. The streets look full and chaotic. I walked a lot like usually but found nothing great to see expect an botanic garden from a university nearby which was the best thing during my stay. It was very hot and everything was way too expensive. Good in Switzerland it u have drinking fountains everywhere.
