I felt safe everyday and everywhere, locals were so helpful and everyone speaks English, we booked the hot tub and sauna and it was really nice, it's easy to explore by car and there are many things to see, it's expensive but worth it
Posted: April 12, 2024I took a ferry and a bus to go camping alone in Kristiansund. I had a great experience. I never felt in danger. I did itch hiking on the way back to catch the ferry and I found a very kind man to drive me. I felt safe all the time even during the drive with a stranger.

Norway
I hitchhiked from southern to northern norway and it was overall a very safe and friendly experience. While couchsurfing in Oslo, I met some amazing people. Nature on the roads is unbelievably beautiful. There is a general quiteness in the head while being in this country.
Posted: December 27, 2023Amazing trip, I have seen some of the best views and done amazing walks. Would totally recommend if you can afford it. Keep in mind Norway is really expensive (same prices as Switzerland!) and especially Lofoten as it is so far away from everything and most of the products are imported. I wouldn’t be able to tell you exactly what my budget was as I travelled with my family. Great great walks with amazing views, totally breath-taking.

I can recommend Norway for every female solo traveller! I've never felt that safe in a country, you can just put your tent up everywhere, hitchhiking works fine, people are incredibly kind and helpful! ❤️ I backpacked Norway from north (starting in Tromsø) to south (down to Kristiansand) and stayed with locals, camped, or booked hostels. I walked, took busses, trains, ships or hitchhiked. Honestly, I think Norway is the best country to do that! 10/10!
Posted: October 21, 2023Experienced: September, 2023I spent two days in Oslo, took a train to Bergen, rented a car and traveled to Trolltunga, then flew north to Tromso and rented a car/drove around the Lofoten Islands. It was the most monumental solo trip I've ever taken.
Posted: July 7, 2023Norway was my first independent trip abroad and it was amazing! Beautiful raw landscapes, well-marked hiking trails, interesting culture, and everyone spoke English. I felt really safe there (although I was still careful and cautious), and everyone was so kind and helpful.
Posted: May 19, 2023Norway is STUNNING. I went to the Lofoten Islands up north, and I was in awe the entire time. I’m from Alaska, so I’m used to mountains and incredible nature. When I say I’ve never seen anything like Norway’s northern mountainous islands, you can believe I mean business. Absolutely beautiful, and it’s so easy to navigate and get around—people speak English everywhere!
Posted: May 8, 2023Norway is absolutely beautiful. I've been there 4 times, coincidentally once in each season. When it comes to cities, I recommend Oslo because of the Viking Museum and the Munch Museum, Bergen and Stavanger for the panorama, and Tromsø to see the Northern Lights and learn more about the Sami people.
Posted: December 6, 2022I adored Oslo. I was living on an island in Oslo, and the host had kayaks: an absolutely fantastic experience and host. I traveled to the islands by ferry, visited the Nobel Peace Museum, went to Frogner Park, and even did a "Norway in a Nutshell" tour, which wasn't planned, but was amazing. My host encouraged this. I usually don't go on tours, but this was a fantastic way to make sure that I would see the fjords and waterfalls, and the package included a train, ferry, bus etc.

Like all places, precautions should be taken. In general, the country is safe and you can relax your guard a bit. I have personally not experienced violence and nor has anyone of my closest female friends. Just be smart under your stay (:
Posted: April 22, 2024I feel extremely safe all over Norway. Both in rural areas and in the big cities alone after dark. The only thing I would be concerned about is going hiking alone without the necessary equipment and experience. Not because of other people, but because the force of nature is real, and the weather can change very quickly from blue sky and sunshine to snow storm.
Posted: April 5, 2024Norway is a country with incredible nature. The Lofoten and the western coast are known for their magnificent views. In Oslo, take time to get to know the city. Walk along Akerselva on a nice day. Sample dishes in food halls. Swim in the fjords (you can swim out to several islands). Visit Kampen, an old working-class district with wooden houses. In Trondheim, see Nidaros Cathedral and enjoy the restaurants. An hour north from Trondheim is Stiklestad - the place where Norway was Christianized in 1030 - a spectacle about this event takes place there in the summer.
