It’s relatively safe if you avoid “bad” neighborhoods. I usually use my scooter to get around, but public transport is safe too. I never have been harassed but I heard some stories from some of my female friends
Posted: May 17, 2024Amsterdam deels like a very safe city to me, during daytime you’ve got nothing to worry about, no matter where you are (in my experience). After dark just be vigilant when you’re on your own and don’t go to completely empty areas, just like in any city on your own at night.
Posted: May 6, 2024The city centre feels very safe. Watch out for pickpockets and alayslock your bike, tho. In the late evening in the centre, there are groups of people in front of bars, but they seem harmless. Zuidoost is very quiet.
Posted: April 29, 2024As a woman I feel very safe in Amsterdam I do believe there are parts of Amsterdam where it feel a bit less safe, but the worst thing that could happen to you is that you get robbed of your phone/wallet.

I think it has been very safe to me. I haven't had any physical attack on the street or being threatened by strangers. During night, I feel free to walk around outside alone. But recently I heard there are some robbery at cars.
Posted: April 4, 2024Typical European city safety. Safe for female solo travelers. At any time of the day. There are some areas that are not so pleasant to walk in the night, but not dangerous. It’s very touristy as well.
Posted: March 30, 2024Generally it's very safe during the day and night. I haven't had a single problem, I live here for 12 years now. Watch your pockets in crowded places. Avoid putting yourself in awkward situations. Watch out for those space cookies that can have an expected effect. :-) Some people don't know how much to eat and then sometimes they end up having bad trips.

Amsterdam is a very safe city. Having lived there almost all my life I can say that it’s probably one of the safest cities in the world. There are a lot of lovely people there. But we all know that wherever you go you should always be a bit cautious.
Posted: March 11, 2024Amsterdam is safe and a nice place to travel to. Just like other cities be careful of your belongings in touristic areas. Public transport is safe, only maybe drunk people in late night. Overall safe place

Very safe. Except touristy places. Local people are trustworthy and friendly. Some drunk tourists create nuisances but nothing that is not seen in other cities. I feel safe to speak my mind, express my creativity and sexuality and in general just be myself.

Safety: me and my friend L. (also a woman) felt very in this city. Things to do: a lot of sightseeing and museums, for example the heineken one. Food: lots of great vegan options in almost all restaurants we stopped by. Accommodation: we stayed together at the Mercure Hotel, so it was a little bit more expensive. But 100% worth the price. Transport: we travelled mostly with the train (very punctual) and once with the taxi due to a storm, which caused all public transportation to stop working.

It was my second time in Amsterdam. I bought a day pass for 60€, so I got into the museums for free. But you have to make a reservation for the museums 1 month in advance. I tried many potatoes, the best one was at "Fabel Friet". My recommendation was blind ketchup, truffle mayonnaise and Parmesan cheese. It tastes incredibly good. I had stroopwafel at Queen Stroopwafel and it was very good. You can visit safely on your own.

Last year, we traveled to Amsterdam from Germany by train. The journey was pleasant and took about six hours. Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that we had entered a new country. I love lively cities where you can encounter diverse people, and unlike Germany, where finding English speakers can be challenging, Amsterdam had many. If you're a weed enthusiast, Amsterdam is the place for you. Even though I don't smoke, the smell was noticeable as soon as we arrived. I recommend visiting in the summer to enjoy the sun at the beach and have fun swimming. Amsterdam is a great destination for group travel. I went there with my partner, but most tourists seemed to be with friends, especially for bachelor parties. One of the highlights of our trip was the city tour by boat, which I highly recommend. It was the best experience I had in Amsterdam.
Posted: May 18, 2024This February, I visited Amsterdam and had a really good time. I checked out some interesting places like the Torture Museum and the Upside Down Museum. Both were pretty unique and added something different to my trip. Walking through the streets, I enjoyed the lively scene on Central Avenue where I did a bit of shopping. One cool spot was the Ice Bar. It's exactly what it sounds like—everything is made of ice, which was a fun way to enjoy a drink in the cold weather. Staying at a youth hostel on Kerkstraat with my brother and his friends was great. We got to meet lots of people, including some locals who were really nice and shared their stories with us. Amsterdam was charming and easy to love. I’m glad I went and I definitely think about going back.
